Mobile teaching is about planning and executing learning through mobile devices.

You might want to be notified when a student accesses a quiz or reading you uploaded, or leaves a comment on another student’s blog, or shares a self-assessment. Or when a certain number of student’s answer a question correctly or incorrectly. Or when a student reaches a goal. This is one approach to mobile teaching.

Using the iPad for collaborative learning isn’t the most seamless thing in the world. For one, you have to define what you mean by collaborative learning, and here we can loosely define it was “a kind of learning where collaboration is an integral part of the learning process.”

This means not just publishing ideas, but publishing them in ways where writers can receive feedback, reflect, and revise their writing or thinking.

This means not just tweeting thoughts or content, but doing so intentionally to promote feedback and interaction.

Miss D's comment, August 27, 2013 9:38 PM
Note sure I agree with 'sit at a table or chair'. iPads are great because they make learning mobile. By implementing this rule, you take this away. In my classroom, you see kids scattered around the room and on the veranda outside, sitting where they feel comfortable. We just have a rule that you can't leave the iPad unattended on the floor.

"SAMR model is a conceptual framework developed by  Dr. Ruben Puentedura to help you better integrate technology in your instruction. SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition. Each of these four levels correspond with a set of tech-based activities and learning tasks. The strength of SAMR model is that it provides teachers with a robust method to gauge and assess the efficacy of the technology they and their students use in class. "I love it when I come across such educators curated lists of apps because I know since these apps are reviewed by fellow teachers then there is a high possibility that they will work for other teachers in different settings too.

For instance, the wonderful work embedded below and which has been created by the folks in St.Plunkett Oliver Primary School http://www.stoliverplunkett.qld.edu.au/Pages/default.aspx ; is a great library of apps that every teacher should have the chance to explore. It contains a set of useful apps pertaining to different categories. Most, if not all of these apps, have been already reviewed here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning before but it is much more practical to see them  compiled and organized all in one page."

I started my teaching career at an international school in Egypt. This school had a very structured curriculum and used standardized testing very often. I learned a lot from working there, I have to admit. But one thing I found rather displeasing about the curriculum was that it only encouraged and facilitated individual learning. There weren’t many opportunities for group work or collaborative learning.

I have to admit I would not be drawn to a blog post entitled so vacuously as, "what MOOC means to me" (so I thought up something catchy and made the real purpose of this post its subtitle). However, it's early days for working out what MOOC means for anyone. People have different ideas about what MOOC means, period. Obviously, the most relevant meaning is the one that reaches any one of us personally. MOOC means a lot to me, I'm going to try to pin down that meaning here, and maybe this will help you get your own grip on what MOOC might mean to you.
