For one, you have to define what you mean by collaborative learning, and here we can loosely define it was “a kind of learning where collaboration is an integral part of the learning process.” This means not just publishing ideas, but publishing them in ways where writers can receive feedback, reflect, and revise their writing or thinking. This means not just tweeting thoughts or content, but doing so intentionally to promote feedback and interaction.

iPads are quickly becoming a popular and powerful educational tool for classrooms. Beyond the immediate benefit of engaging students, iPads can improve education efficiency and standards. However, many teachers are unsure of how to use them effectively. Coupled with concerns over the costs involved, iPad implementation in schools is seen as an unnecessary and expensive risk.

There is also the possibility to work on your digital portfolios on Google Drive, in fact EdTech did a great video tutorial on how to use Drive as a portfolio solution in your iPad classroom. As an avid mind mapper, I would like to add the following apps to the growing list: ThinkBuzan.com's iMindMap HD; Mindjet Maps; MindMaple, and iThoughts HD. Also, MindTools HD for the iPad (see mindtools.com) is a suite of tools covering a wide range of essential skills for students and workplace professionals alike.

great, thanks Rick I will have a look at some of those! Evernote and Notability are my two personal faves, My students love Popplet for mind mapping and they draw a lot using Notability.

Mobile teaching is about planning and executing learning through mobile devices.
You might want to be notified when a student accesses a quiz or reading you uploaded, or leaves a comment on another student’s blog, or shares a self-assessment. Or when a certain number of student’s answer a question correctly or incorrectly. Or when a student reaches a goal. This is one approach to mobile teaching.
