A trillion tiny robots in the cloud: The future of AI in an algorithm world

A trillion tiny robots in the cloud: The future of AI in an algorithm world | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

The future of AI isn't about one giant super-intelligence. Instead, it's about many small, dedicated agents that know you intimately and work on your behalf to improve your everyday life. That could be helping you shop, get to work or, even, find a partner.

Move Over Siri: Cubic Robotics Releasing New Artificial Intelligence Assistant With Personality

Move Over Siri: Cubic Robotics Releasing New Artificial Intelligence Assistant With Personality | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it
We're all familiar with the likes of Siri, GoogleNow, Cortana, and, most recently, Amazon Echo. These supposedly intelligent software apps can lead us to the nearest coffee shop, remind us of upcoming meetings, and even give us a good laugh when we foolishly ask what 0 is divided by 0.

Gartner Says the Natural Life Cycle of a Technology-Driven Company Is Under 10 Years

Gartner Says the Natural Life Cycle of a Technology-Driven Company Is Under 10 Years | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it
The pervasive role of technology now exposes every company, not just technology companies, to increasingly rapid technology-driven life cycles, which are typically less than 10 years, according to Gartner, Inc.
Pierre Tran's insight:

I don't think enough attention is being paid to how important Google Now is for Google Inc.'s (GOOG) business. It seems that the shiny new hardware of Project Glass has stolen our attention.

Beyond Voice Recognition: It's The Age Of Intelligent Systems

Beyond Voice Recognition: It's The Age Of Intelligent Systems | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

Expect the current generation of virtual personal assistants to evolve into ubiquitous intelligent systems. These will communicate with people through voice, text, vision, touch and gestures and will factor in ambient information like location or motion to understand context, giving greater relevance of every interaction.

Intelligent machines are on the horizon

Intelligent machines are on the horizon | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

Global trade in food and luxuries has been going on for centuries, but the next big commodity looks set to be invisible, yet essential. As we change how we react with each other and the world around us, artificial intelligence is destined to become far more than a future-gazing distraction for geeks and scientists.

What you missed in Big Data: Artificial intelligence meets personalized content

What you missed in Big Data: Artificial intelligence meets personalized content | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

Rising consumer expectations for personalized and timely content is driving marketers to abandon traditional methodologies in favor of new data-driven approaches to providing tailored experiences. Artificial intelligence is emerging as an increasingly popular means of accomplishing that, with an entire array of vendors both big and small currently working to productize the technology for the enterprise.

Architecting the Internet of Things with Intelligent Agents

To address the architectural and security issues with the IoT, intelligent agents must represent more than a smarter way to build IoT nodes. We must actually move to a new architectural paradigm – an architectural style I hazard to label Agent-Oriented Architecture (AOA). AOA inherits some characteristics of C/S and P2P, but is truly a different paradigm, because the agents control the interactions. And as long as the agents do our bidding, AOA puts us – the technology consumer – in control of the IoT.
Pierre Tran's insight:

Web 4.0: The Ultra-Intelligent Electronic Agent is Coming

Web 4.0: The Ultra-Intelligent Electronic Agent is Coming | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it
The evolution of the Web today is happening faster than the transition from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 due to processing power, bandwidth and storage, "creating a curve of exponential change."
Pierre Tran's insight:

Ah, je suis has-been avec mon Web 3.0...

Baptiste Vannesson's comment, March 29, 2013 6:33 PM
Baptiste Vannesson's curator insight, March 29, 2013 6:45 PM

Bye-bye, mouse. Hello, mind control

When workplace computers moved beyond command-line interfaces to the mouse-and-windows-based graphical user interface, that was a major advance in usability. And the command line itself was a big improvement over the punch cards and tape that came before.

Is Siri really Apple’s future?

Is Siri really Apple’s future? | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

Siri is a promise. A promise of a new computing environment, enormously empowering to the ordinary user, a new paradigm in our evolving relationship with machines. Siri could change Apple’s fortunes like iTunes and App Store…or end up being like the useful-but-inessential FaceTime or the essential-but-difficult Maps or the desirable-but-dead Ping. After spending hundreds of millions on acquiring and improving it, what does Apple expect to gain from Siri, at once the butt of late-night TV jokes but also the wonder of teary-eyed TV commercials?

Metaphorical affect sensing in an intelligent conversational agent

Metaphorical affect sensing in an intelligent conversational agent | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

We report new developments of an affect detection component on the processing of several different types of metaphorical affective expressions. The component has been embedded in an intelligent conversational AI agent interacting with human users under loose scenarios. The detected affective states also play an important role in producing emotional animation for users' avatars. Evaluation for the affect detection component is provided. Our work contributes to the conference themes on human-robots interaction based on affect sensing, affective computing, learning and children, narrative storytelling and evaluation of affective social interaction.
